As the famous Buddhist saying goes:

“When the student is ready the teacher will appear..”

That teacher might well be a book.

The right book at the right time can change our life. Books have the potential to expand our mind, guide us to presence, teach us to surrender, empower us to make profound shifts and cause us to renew our perspective, see ourselves more deeply and move into alignment with our higher purpose.

There are countless spiritual books on the market written by renowned teachers, sages, and visionaries throughout the ages which serve to enrich and enhance our lives.

It can be overwhelming and seemingly impossible to cut through and discern to which books to dedicate our valuable time.

At The Spiritual Book Club, we have curated an evolving list of the most impactful spiritual books in the world - from the deeply profound to the simply uplifting - from authors long before our time to those who are generating works for our era.

Often when we read these books, it feels like the authors are ‘speaking to us’ through the pages.

At the Spiritual Book Club, it’s kind of like that.

With access to exclusive interviews with some of our favourite spiritual authors and teachers - as well as authors you may not have come across yet but will be glad you did - we get the opportunity to explore their messages further and delve deeper into their teachings and motivations. They’ll also guide you in practical exercises or meditations to elevate your life.

A bit about me

Meet Jacinta

Journalist, author, coach - and founder of The Spiritual Book Club.

I’ve been a journalist my entire career, working as a TV news anchor and reporter as well as writing for newspapers and magazines, and publishing several books.

I was drawn to journalism and writing as a career because I’ve always been inspired by other people’s stories as it’s in these narratives that we see ourselves.

I share these stories in my writing, along with my own perspective on life as I continue to learn and evolve. I write memoir because these are the books I most resonate with. When others are vulnerable and open, it helps us feel less alone and provides meaning for what we’re going through. My books include The Single Mother’s Social Club - Inspiration and advice on embracing single parenthood, and Mother Zen - described as ‘part memoir, part manifesto of modern motherhood’.

I’ve been on a ‘spiritual path’ for many years, which ramped up when I learnt to meditate when I was pregnant with my first child.

When I was retrenched from my news presenting job during the Covid-19 Pandemic, it gave me a much yearned for opening to turn my attention to my other great passion: human potential and spirituality. I write a column for Body+Soul Magazine on these topics, exploring different spiritual modalities and sharing my own learnings along the way.

I also earned a Diploma in Positive Mental Health and do one-on-one coaching with select clients.

I started The Spiritual Book Club because these are the books I most love to read and that I want to share with others. These are the books that have changed me, opened me up and empowered me to live a life in alignment with my truth.

I know I’m not the only one.

Drawing on my skills as a TV journalist and interviewer, I speak with some of our most revered spiritual authors and teachers - along with authors you may not have heard about yet but will be glad you did - to give us greater insight into their principles and practices while inviting them to share their own stories of how they came to this wisdom.

Like all of you who have arrived here, I’m driven by the pull of expansion and a desire for deeper understanding, giving us all access to a more meaningful life.

Just like a good book.
